We are a private billing practice.

The cost of an appointment varies depending on the type of appointment required. We will provide a quote for the fee when you contact us to book an appointment.

Medicare will not fully cover the cost of an appointment, but you may be able to claim a Medicare rebate for some of the cost. Private health insurance will not contribute to the cost of an appointment.

We perform minor procedures on site in our Brisbane city office.

There is a surgeon’s fee for the procedure and a fee for the use of our procedure room. We will provide a quote for these fees when the procedure is booked.

You may be able to claim a Medicare rebate for some of the cost of a procedure. Private health insurance will not contribute to the cost of procedures performed in our procedure room.

The total cost of having an operation in a private hospital is a combination of fees from multiple providers, including:

The surgeon’s fee. This is the only fee which we set.

The surgical assistant’s fee (if an assistant is required).

The anaesthetist’s fee.

Your Private Health Insurer’s hospital admission excess.

Fees for investigations (such as pathology tests, scans, and ECGs).

Pharmacy fees for medications provided on discharge.

There will often be a portion of these fees which are not covered by Medicare or your Private Health Insurance. This difference is known as the out-of-pocket cost or gap.

Our team will send you a quote for the anticipated fees for your surgeon, surgical assistant, and any specific equipment required. The quote will include the estimated gap.

Please note that this quote does not include the fees which will be charged by your anaesthetist. You will be given their contact details to discuss their fees with them directly.

It also does not include a hospital admission excess. This fee is determined by your Private Health Insurer and is payable directly to the hospital on admission.

If you don’t have Private Health Insurance, you can still choose to be treated in a private hospital by self-funding your medical care.

If you self-fund your care, you will need to pay the hospital, surgeon, assistant, and anaesthetic fees in full prior to admission. You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for some the surgeon’s fee, assistant fee, and anaesthetist’s fee.

If unforeseen complexities arise during your operation or hospital stay (for example, a longer than expected post-operative stay, an unexpected need to the return to the operating theatre, or an unexpected admission to the intensive care unit), you will be responsible for the additional costs of these services.

Payment for appointments and minor procedures

We ask you to settle your account in full on the day of the appointment. We accept cash (Brisbane city office only), personal and bank cheques, and EFTPOS (Debit cards, Mastercard, VISA). We do not accept American Express cards.

For consultations and minor procedures in our offices, we can lodge a Medicare claim for you online, so that the Medicare rebate is automatically sent to your nominated bank account or mailed to you by cheque.

Payment for surgery

We accept payment by BPAY, direct deposit, cheque, or credit card, or in person at our Wickham Terrace office with cash or EFTPOS. We do not accept American Express cards.

Fees for your anaesthetist and the hospital are payable directly to those providers.

Third party accounts

If your account is being paid by a third party (eg. Workcover), we require a letter from the third party stating that they will cover a particular service prior to your appointment or surgery.

Without this we are unable to send the account to a third party and we will require you to settle your account on the day of your appointment.
